Construction of a 121-unit permanent supportive housing development for Housing Matters in Santa Cruz. The project integrates residential units with on-site support services and shared community spaces.
Challenge
The project combines housing with on-site services, requiring careful coordination across layout, systems, and constructability. As a community-focused project with long-term operational needs, early decisions needed to support future residents, staff, and day-to-day programming.
Approach
We were engaged early to support preconstruction activities, including constructability reviews, budget forecasting, value engineering, and design coordination. That early work helped clarify priorities, resolve challenges before construction, and create a clear path forward.
During construction, coordination across trades and consistent field oversight help maintain progress while protecting the schedule and quality.
Result
Harvey West Studios is currently under construction and moving toward delivery as a permanent supportive housing community designed for long-term use, stability, and care.
