Center for Ocean Health (Long Marine Laboratory)

Bogard Construction built both the Seymour Marine Discovery Center and the Center for Ocean Health for the UC Regents. This educational and research facility required the use of corrosion-resistant construction materials, compliance with ocean-front restrictions required by the California Coastal Commission, and involved intricate construction and design approaches for the preservation of sensitive ecological habitats. Construction challenges included the installation of a direct sea water filtration system for the aquarium and laying of extensive exposed sea water supply piping.
